Graduate profile

The graduate is educated to gain expert knowledge, skills and working habits as well as extensive general knowledge in Science and Humanities and also skills important for further education and for finding employment.

The graduates of this field of study are able:

  • to educate and instruct patients in regular and systematic preventive oral care;
  • to determine the level of individual oral hygiene, to perform a variety of methods and techniques of oral hygiene and to check their effectiveness;
  • to perform health-educational activities focused on the prevention of dental decay, periodontopathies, orthodontic anomalies and healthy diet for both individuals and groups;
  • to participate in the prophylaxis of oral cavity diseases, including discovering early stages of pathological changes and prevention of their deterioration;
  • to provide preventive care and to diagnose early stages of pathological changes as well as preventing the deterioration of existing conditions;
  • to perform initial examinations of the oral cavity according to the prescription of a dentist including taking history, evaluating of periodontium and the condition of soft tissues;
  • to perform a general evaluation of the condition of teeth and the degree of tooth decay;
  • to determine and evaluate periodontal indexes;
  • to take impressions;
  • to remove plaque and calculus from interdental, supragingival and subgingival areas;
  • to treat the surface of teeth with polishing paste or with prophylactic agents;
  • to remove plaque retentive areas and make surface adjustment of fillings;
  • to clean teeth professionally, to provide whitening and similar aesthetic procedures;
  • to inform the dentist about results of the patients‘ treatment and to recommend  check-ups by the dentist;
  • to apply fissure sealants;
  • to apply topical anaesthetics for superficial soft tissue anaesthesia;
  • to operate dental units and other devices used in dental surgery, including their maintenance;
  • to participate in accepting, checking and storing health supplies and in ensuring that they suffice;
  • to provide Emergency First Aid and to cooperate with professionals providing medical First Aid, to act sensibly in threatening situations
  • to keep safety and hygiene regulations
